6layer limited edition screen print featuring illustrations of a bird of paradise and hummingbird flitting between collaged elements of buildings found in South London Paper measures: 250 x 700 mm
Edition of 30
300gsm Bockingford lightly textured fine art paper
All colours mixed by eye by Melissa North using pigment rich, fine art quality screenprinting inks
Designed, hand printed and signed by Melissa North
The ‘Concrete Jungle’ screen print series was inspired by lockdown walks spent finding beauty in the endless layers of concrete architecture around South London. Patterns created by windows, staircases and walkways create rhythm throughout the pieces, emulating the sprawling urban structures that rise above the skyline and criss-cross their way through the city. Illustrations of flora and fauna weave among the cityscape in an imagined world where the tower blocks are their canopy.
The featured buildings can be found in and around Stockwell, Oval and Brixton in South London.
